The Ethiopian Free Methodist church recognized the immediate need for women with sewing skills to have jobs, especially women who are caring for orphans. They built a plan to train the women in business skills and how to make traditional Ethiopian clothes so they can start their own tailoring shops to help provide for their families. The training shop and its equipment will be available long-term to continue training for other women.
Many of the women in this Ethiopian group have chosen to care for orphans. The Emmanuel Free Methodist church in Addis Ababa is donating use of space and will pay a portion of the costs of this sustainable program.
July 2016 update: the church has all funds necessary and is working through a new set of government regulations. We hope to have the good word about their launch and success soon!
